Tyre Checker

Camel Tyres

How to check if your tyres need changing.

To be legal to drive on the road, your tyres need to have at least 1.6mm of tread and no bald patches.

To check this you will need to look for the tread wear bar indicator.

wear bar indicator

The red circles clearly mark the wear bar indicator on both the new tyre(right) and the old tyre (left)

It is also illegal to run your vehicle on tyres with severe damage. This can take the form of deep cuts and bulges, and will make them just as dangerous on the roads.

If your tyres prove to be bald or damaged in any way,

you need to call us as soon as possible!

Before calling Camel Tyres, you will need to make a note of your tyre size as there is no guaranteed way of telling what size tyres are on your vehicle without looking.

This can be found on the side wall of your tyre.

(The size can easily be found on the outer wall of every tyre)

In the image above, you can clearly see that the tyre shown is a 175 / 65R14 82T

This breaks down into:

A tyre section width of 175mm

A profile height of 65%

Tyre type R (radial)

A wheel diameter of 14"

A load index of 82 (475kg per tyre)

And the speed rating T (up to 118mph)

We offer a free tyre safety check service for local businesses with five vehicles or more. These could be company vehicles or just those owned by the staff working there.
